Our History

Make-A-Wish traces its inspiration to Christopher James Greicius, an energetic 7-year-old boy with leukemia who wished to be a police officer. In 1980, his Phoenix community came together to make his wish come true. Little did Chris know that his wish would create a movement that would transform millions of lives.

We extend our gratitude to Chris’ mother, Linda Pauling, the Greicius family, and the founders for their tireless dedication to our mission.

About Make-A-Wish North Texas

Make-A-Wish North Texas serves 161 counties and has granted more than 13,000 wishes to date thanks to the support of volunteers, donors, and advocates who advance the Make-A-Wish vision to grant the wish of every eligible child diagnosed with a critical illness. Make-A-Wish strives to provide the wish child and family with special memories of joy and laughter, which are a welcome respite from hospitals, doctors, and treatment programs.

A wish can be the spark that helps these children believe that anything is possible and gives them the strength to fight harder against their illnesses. This one belief guides us and inspires us to grant wishes that change the lives of the kids we serve.

About Wish Night

Wish Night draws the North Texas community together to honor and celebrate the power of hope in the lives of children with critical illnesses and their families. Donors, volunteers, and sponsors gather alongside wish families for this unquestionably uplifting and inspiring occasion. The evening features a cocktail reception, live and silent auctions, three-course dinner, and after-party with music and dancing. Immense gratitude to all who make this fundraising event a magical success. Together, we pursue our vision of a wish granted for every eligible child.
